Your guide will email or text you before the tour with their cell phone number. If you need to reach them, text that number directly. Replies to the automated confirmation text take much longer to reach us.
Good to Know for Every Tour
Do I need to show my ticket? No. Give your guide the name on the booking and you’re checked in.
What if I’m running late? Text your guide directly and they will help you find the group. The group waits at the meeting point for about 10 minutes after the start time. Once the tour is underway your guide is busy leading it, so a reply may take a few minutes. Guides cannot answer phone calls during a tour, so please text/whatsapp. The Capitol Hill & Library of Congress and National Mall + Undercroft tour have a stricter late policy.
Should I drive? We recommend public transportation or a rideshare. Each tour section below lists the closest Metro station and the best drop-off address. If you do need to drive, here is our advice on street parking and garages.
What language are the tours in? All of our tours are in English.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule? See our cancellation policy for details.
What happens if the weather is bad? Tours are rain or shine unless it is unsafe. We monitor weather and will keep guests updated. You are welcome to reschedule to another tour/day at any point.
How much walking is there? Is the tour accessible? That depends on the tour, but we try to keep the tours to manageable distances. All tours are accessible however; Arlington Cemetery, Capitol Hill and all Georgetown tours have unavoidable stairs/uneven sidewalks. Please email us first so we can assist with options.
Can I bring my kids or my dog? We do not allow unaccompanied minors but all tours are child friendly if they have a ticket except tours labelled Adults Only. Infants under 2 do not need tickets for National Mall Tours. All ages need tickets for Capitol Hill tour (but email us if you have an infant and we can help navigate that). Otherwise, children under 4 do not require a ticket.
Should I tip my guide? Gratuity is optional but appreciated. All guides accept Venmo and cash.

Historic Georgetown
This is our daytime history tour. Ghosts of Georgetown meets at a different spot.
- Meeting point: Lock 3 on the C&O Canal. The park has no street address, so use this map pin.
- Closest Metro: Foggy Bottom/GWU, about a 10 to 12 minute walk. Buses stop on M St NW, one block north of the meeting point.
- Rideshare or taxi: Use the address for Baked & Wired, 1052 Thomas Jefferson St NW. You can see the meeting point from the bridge in front of the bakery, and you can grab a pastry before the tour.
- Restrooms: None on the tour. Nearby cafes and restaurants have them before we start (we love Baked & Wired), and there are restrooms at the end on the Georgetown University campus.
- Where it ends: Near Georgetown University, around 36th and O St NW. That is a 10 to 12 minute walk from the start. The exact spot varies with the day and the guide.
- Security: None. We don’t enter any buildings.

Ghosts of Georgetown
This is our evening ghost tour. The daytime Historic Georgetown tour meets at a different spot.
- Meeting point: The Old Stone House, 3051 M St NW.
- Closest Metro: Foggy Bottom/GWU, about a 10 to 12 minute walk. Buses stop on M St NW.
- Rideshare or taxi: 3051 M St NW. Cars can drop off right in front.
- Restrooms: None on the tour. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants near the meeting point.
- Where it ends: Near the Exorcist Steps at 36th and Prospect St NW. That is a 10 to 12 minute walk from the start. The exact spot varies with the day and the guide.
- Security: None. We don’t enter any buildings.

Memorials and Moonlight
The Skip the Line Washington Monument & National Mall tour meets at a different spot.
- Meeting point: The Lockkeeper’s House at 17th St and Constitution Ave NW. Use this map pin.
- Closest Metro: Farragut West or Farragut North.
- Rideshare or taxi: The Lockkeeper’s House has no street address, so enter the corner of 17th St and Constitution Ave NW. If you type in “Lockkeeper’s House,” check that the app is taking you to NW DC. Lyft sometimes sends riders to a spot in NE DC instead.
- Restrooms: None at the meeting point. There are public restrooms near the memorials along the route.
- Where it ends: At the Lincoln Memorial.
- Security: None. We don’t enter any buildings.
National Mall (+Ticket)
The Memorials and Moonlight tour meets at a different spot.
- Meeting point: Outside Lincoln Memorial Gifts & Cafe, 10 Henry Bacon Drive NW. We are not affiliated with the shop, so please look for your guide outside.
Please arrive on time for this tour. We have timed entry tickets and security lines at more than one building, so the group leaves the meeting point 5 minutes after the start time. If you are running a few minutes behind, text your guide. If you are more than 15 minutes late, we will not be able to bring you into the tour, and we cannot refund late arrivals. Contact us and we will do our best to reschedule you.
- Closest Metro: Foggy Bottom/GWU.
- Rideshare or taxi: 10 Henry Bacon Drive NW. Cars can usually drop off right in front, depending on traffic.
- Restrooms: None at the meeting point. There are public restrooms near the memorials along the route.
- Where it ends: The daytime tour ends the Washington Monument, where your guide will hand you your tickets to go to the top. The evening tour ends at the WWII Memorial (we visit the Undercroft during the tour)
- Security: You will go through a security screening to enter the Washington Monument or Lincoln Undercroft. It is similar to what you’ll find at the museums.

Capitol Hill & Library of Congress
The evening Capitol Hill Scandals tour meets at a different spot.
Please arrive on time for this tour. We have timed entry tickets and security lines at more than one building, so the group leaves the meeting point 5 minutes after the start time. If you are running a few minutes behind, text your guide. If you are more than 15 minutes late, we will not be able to bring you into the tour, and we cannot refund late arrivals. Contact us and we will do our best to reschedule you.
- Meeting point: The front steps of the Reserve Organization of America, 1 Constitution Ave NE, at the corner of 1st St and Constitution Ave NE. The lettering above the stairs reads “Reserve Officers Association.” Apple Maps sometimes places this address half a block away, so look for the building in the photo below.
- Closest Metro: Capitol South or Union Station, each about a 10 minute walk.
- Rideshare or taxi: 1 Constitution Ave NE. Cars can drop off right in front.
- Restrooms: None at the meeting point. There are restrooms inside the Library of Congress and the Capitol Visitor Center.
- Where it ends: Our 2 hour walking tour ends inside the Capitol Visitor Center, where we hand you off to a Capitol docent. The docent’s tour of the Capitol lasts 45 to 50 minutes and finishes back in the Visitor Center.
- Security: You will go through security to enter the federal buildings, and the Capitol has strict rules about what you can bring. Please review the Capitol’s list before you come.
Capitol Hill Scandals
The daytime Capitol Hill & Library of Congress tour meets at a different spot.
- Meeting point: Outside the Capitol South Metro Station.
- Closest Metro: Capitol South. The meeting point is right outside the station.
- Rideshare or taxi: Enter Capitol South Metro Station. It is an easy place for cars to pull up.
- Restrooms: None on the tour or near the meeting point, since this is an evening tour. Please plan ahead.
- Where it ends: Near the National Museum of the American Indian, a short walk from the Federal Center SW Metro.
- Security: None. We don’t enter any buildings.

Arlington Cemetery
- Meeting point: The benches outside the Welcome Center, on the far side of security. You need to go through the security screening before you meet your guide, so please leave time for the line.
- Closest Metro: Arlington Cemetery.
- Rideshare or taxi: Enter the Arlington National Cemetery Welcome Center. There is a dedicated taxi drop-off in front.
- Parking: The cemetery has its own paid parking lot. It closes one hour after the cemetery does, and overnight parking is not allowed.
- Restrooms: Inside the Welcome Center before the tour starts. There are none along the route.
- Where it ends: Near Memorial Avenue, an easy walk back to the Welcome Center and the Metro. The exact spot varies with the day and the guide.
- Security: Everyone entering the cemetery goes through a security screening. Here is what to expect and what you can bring.

Lincoln Assassination
- Meeting point: The front of St. John’s Church at 16th and H St NW. Look for the columned entrance facing 16th St. The Parish House around the corner is not the meeting point.
- Closest Metro: McPherson Square, a 2 to 3 minute walk.
- Rideshare or taxi: Enter St. John’s Church, Lafayette Square, at 16th and H St NW. Cars can drop off right in front.
- Restrooms: None on the tour or near the meeting point. Please plan ahead.
- Where it ends: Outside Ford’s Theatre at 10th and E St NW.
- Security: None. We don’t enter any buildings.

Embassy Row
- Meeting point: The fountain at the center of Dupont Circle, inside the park.
- Closest Metro: Dupont Circle.
- Rideshare or taxi: Cars cannot stop on the circle itself, so get dropped off on a side street. The Starbucks at 1501 Connecticut Ave NW is a good choice, and it has restrooms.
- Restrooms: None on the tour. Coffee shops near the meeting point, including that Starbucks, have them before we start.
- Where it ends: Near the north entrance of the Dupont Circle Metro.
- Security: None. We don’t enter any buildings.

National Archives & American History Museum
- Meeting point: Outside the National Museum of American History on the Constitution Avenue side, 1300 Constitution Ave NW. The museum also has an entrance on the National Mall side, so be sure you are on Constitution Avenue.
- Closest Metro: Federal Triangle.
- Rideshare or taxi: 1300 Constitution Ave NW.
- Restrooms: Available during the tour.
- Where it ends: At the National Archives.
- Security: You will go through security at both buildings. Weapons are not allowed, and neither are luggage or large bags. Food and gum are fine as long as they stay in your bag while you are inside.
